This Sunday please remember to bring donated food items for the less
fortunate families in our community. Our EYC (youth group) will get your
donations to the food pantry we’ve created at Legion Park Elementary
School. These donations are especially helpful around the holidays.
Thanks for your support!
Also, please remember that this Sunday (November 11) is the deadline for
turning in your pledge card, indicating your financial commitment in
support of St. Matthew’s mission and ministry. Thus far, we’ve received
30. Our goal is 100, so we still got some paddling to do! Please remember
we are definitely counting on “all oars in the water!” Many thanks in
advance for your support.
Finally, I’m so looking forward to our upcoming outreach to homeless
veterans at the American Legion Hall. We’re going to provide an abundant
meal for these men, and be certain to thank them for their service. We are
partnering with the START Corporation and the American Legion to host this
community Thanksgiving Dinner for the veterans. The meal will be served on
Tuesday, November 20 at the American Legion Hall at 3 PM.
Finally, next week our SMES students will be boxing up care packages for
mariners who will be away from home at Christmas. This project, called
“Christmas at Sea” is sponsored by the Seamen’s Church Institute, with
whom we are partnering to reach out to our mariners. It’s a joy to be able
to reach out to these often overlooked folks who work so hard, and make
possible the way of life we are so blessed to enjoy.
